Is Plum Island just for summer homes?
While the island was developed as a vacation destination, Plum Island is a year round community where people do live year round! The development of Plum Island for residential purposes began in the late 1800’s. The island was a popular location for Boston families looking to spend summer outside of the city. Because it was booming vacation destination, many of the homes are small beachy cottages. While larger, more modern homes do exist on the island, they are the minority.
